The Great Pyramid of Giza was built needing a perfect square foundation, with each side being precisely 230.4 metres long.There too needed to be a line perfectly staked out perpendicular with true north from one corner of the square to another. Thousands of wooden stakes were driven into the hard ground as to run a line that would keep the square perfect with a diagonal line running perfectly north / south. Then once the foundations were laid encompassing 53,000m2, each and every stake had to be pulled out!
